Kidpower for Young Children Programme – for Parents, Caregivers and Teachers

What is the Kidpower for Young Children Programme?

A series of workshops provide a synthesis among all of tamariki learning environments. They ensure everyone is on the same page, learning the same skills, and developing the same safety strategies.

Kidpower provides simple and effective tools to learn,  develop, and practise important social-emotional skills.  The programme helps teachers respond to inappropriate behaviour, create a safe environment and build tamariki’s trust that their teachers care and will help if something is unsafe.

Who is the Kidpower for Young Children Programme for?

  • Professional Development for Teachers – 1-hour session; Introduction to Kidpower signals, language, and general discussion on what their tamariki would be learning, how they can support that learning and time for questions. A “doing” session in which safety skills, safety signals, and methodology are practised.
  • Whānau Workshop – 1-hour group session: An introduction to Kidpower signals, language, general discussion on what their tamariki are learning and time for questions.  A “doing” session in which whānau & caregivers practise safety skills and signals.
  • Tamariki Workshop – Between 30 to 60 minute group session: A brief introduction with puppet shows demonstrating several different safety scenarios.  A “doing” session, where all tamariki are involved with practising safety skills and signals.  Waiata to finish
