Evidence
Empowerment Trust prides itself on supporting its work with feedback and data, including extensive studies by third parties. We don’t just use this research to justify our work, we use it to continually assess and update our practices and programmes to achieve the best possible outcome. Our primary prevention work is community-led and evidence-based. This is to ensure our delivery is safe, trauma-informed and meets the needs of the communities that we work with. Our Kidpower and Fullpower Healthy Relationships programmes have also undergone several Independent External Evaluations.
We also love our wonderful testimonials from our communities.
Kidpower
Kidpower NZ was independently evaluated in the Children and Youth Services Review, 2014, 44.
They found that our intervention uses best practices in risk-reduction and prevention, participation predicted greater increases in safety knowledge across domains, safety knowledge increases were generally maintained at both post-tests, and both students and teachers reported the programme to be successful and helpful!
This success is based on the carefully developed, Safety Through ‘Skills First’ Approach, strengths-based, step-by-step Kidpower Positive Practice™ teaching method and approach used since 1987.
Fullpower Healthy Relationships
Several Independent evaluations found that the programme was of high quality, easy to follow and enjoyable for students.
- Educators and parents liked the easy application
- Consistent behaviour change was achieved
- It is appropriate to New Zealand and Pacific cultures
- A real need is met
- It worked for people with autism
